Why am I a doula?

I became a doula because I believe in the power of mothers-to-be.

I believe that inside each woman is innate strength and grace that is beautifully highlighted in pregnancy, and especially during the birthing process.

I became a doula because I want to help women recognize their powerful light within, and to help them trust that power as they bring their babies into the world.

To birth without fear. To birth with light.

Why hire a doula?

I can provide educational, physical, and emotional support for you to have the best possible experience for YOUR body, YOUR birth, and YOUR baby.

Educational support

Guiding the mother and their partner through pregnancy and labor
Suggesting techniques in labor (breathing, relaxation techniques, movement, and positioning)
Helping find evidence-based information about different options in pregnancy and childbirth

Physical support

Providing comfort measures such as the use of massage, counter pressure, or a rebozo
Helping create a safe, peaceful environment
Applying warm or cold compresses
Giving ice chips, snacks, and drinks

Emotional support

Text, phone, and e-mail support
Continuous presence during labor
Encouragement
Showing a caring, positive attitude
Accepting what the birthing person wants
Coaching the mother and partner through fears and self-doubt
Debriefing after the birth and listening to the mother with empathy
